Crash Reduction Roadshow goes to Port Erin

ROAD safety partners will take the hard-hitting Crash Reduction Roadshow to Port Erin this week.

Personnel from Fire, Police, ambulance, the Department of Transport Road Safety Unit and vehicle examiners will be at Shoprite in Port Erin on Thursday (April 26) for the latest in the popular Crash Reduction Road show series. The Roadshow starts at 7.30pm in Shoprite car park and everyone is welcome.

Inspector Derek Flint of the Roads Policing Unit said:

‘This is the latest of our events, which we have been running quarterly since the seeds were first sown back in July last year. Attendance has been really good, even on cold winter nights, so we are hoping the residents of the south will come down in force now the weather is improving.

‘As previously, we will be introducing people to the anatomy of a crash, and the hearts and minds issues that go hand in hand with them. We are all sick of going to collisions where lives are changed beyond recognition, and this is a way of showing people what we have to contend with.

‘We will be glad to see all ages and groups, but particularly the 16-25 year olds. I think they will get a lot out of it.’

The Crash Reduction Roadshow in the south follows successful shows staged at Douglas, Ramsey and Peel. In addition, last week firefighters and police gave the presentation to Year 11 students at Queen Elizabeth II High School in Peel.
