Ramblers from the US and Holland are among the first to sign up for the Isle of Man Walking Festival.

Glad to hear the walking festival is going ahead again.

It could learn a huge amount from the massive Isle of Wight walking festival... the largest in the UK - and its on an island!

What's the secret?

Very inventive themed walks, I like the speed dating walk!

I think this island has some very beautiful walks, but perhaps our festival organisers could learn from the 'pzazz' the IOW puts into its festival. (Not knocking our festival organisers, but a bit of imagination could help in countering the comparative cost of getting here.)

HF Holidays are another walk organiser, perhaps something could be learnt from them too.

How does a speed dating walk actually work? Do you have supervisors making you change the person you are walking with every 5 minutes!! How do you make notes?!

I am sure I would make a mess of it and forget about speed dating and start speed walking! It is probably a pretty spurious title, but it does grab the attention. Also the Chinese themed walk, now how does that work? A thirty foot dragon climbing up the side of some craggy outcrop?

They're probably promoting tourism from China which is on the up I believe.

I see they are now appealing for men on the speed dating walk...

perhaps the Dept of Tourism could send some young lads over to participate and promote the manx walking festival during the speed dating walk!!

Maybe we should close the whole Island road network so that health and safety can let them wander wherever they want without causing traffic chaos.

In fact maybe one day we could have a sporting event on this Island that does not result in a road closure, a one way system, a traffic flow system or some other form of inconvienience to people who want to go about their usual business.

God you are a miserable git...your life here must be so jam packed that an extra few miles/minutes on your journeys cause you so much angst!!

People moan about the lack of tourism, yet whenever the slightest inconvenience is caused by the TT, MGP, walking, cycling, rallying, etc, these people with very busy lives moan and whine. It crops up thread after thread.

I wonder what these people do, that makes it so difficult to plan around the well publicised road closures.
