Grianane
I feel for the McCanns, whatever happened, and can see the dilemma that exists. If Maddy is alive then the media frenzy needs to be kept going so that she is foremost in the minds of everyone and the chances of her being found are maximised. There are plenty of cases of kids being found alive and well after much longer periods of being missing and the McCanns and the police well know this. Unfortunately the media isn't about the news anymore, its as much about profit making and speculation and controversy does sell papers - and funnily enough we all buy them. Albert Tatlock
speculation and controversy does sell papers - and funnily enough we all buy them. Speak for yourself. One paper that has remained fairly unbiased and knocked the tabloids for their behaviour is the Independent.

Lonan3
I stopped reading news articles about it a while ago and was also disgusted by the TV coverage. The Portuguese have a different system to ours and the British media symply weren't able to handle the fact that they weren't privvy to every development of the investigation. As a result, they turned on the investigators and presented them as plodding incompetents. The British press and TV news stations are nothing but parasites when it comes to an emotionally-charged case such as this and they're deserving of nothing but the utmost contempt. Nah - nothing compared to most papers - that info was put in the public domain by the Portuguese investigators and the family blog and quotes a non-portuguese non-red-top.
