New Vehicle Systems For Dot

Last year every elction candidate including sitting members of Tynwald banged on about "transparency" and "open & accountable government" and as expected they have (with two notable exceptions) done bugger all about it

I bet it would be pretty much impossible to find out how this project was awarded and who was responsible.

Until the public have access to this sort of information we will never have value for money from government and they will continue to award projects to the firm that buys the best lunch.

No-one ever gets their arse kicked.

Another example;

The Department of Tourism and Leisure is the third government department to bring in a private agency to run its PR, the Department of Transport having appointed Isle of Man Advertising to deal with media releases, while Treasury employs Weber Shandwick to promote Isle of Man finance off-Island and e-business is promoted off-Island by Lansons.

..

Asked if the deal had gone out to tender, Mr LePage confirmed it had not.

He said: 'There was not a full tender. We don't have to go to tender at that level. Obviously there was a selection of people we talked to and we have called on somebody's services.'

According to a contact in Jersey, Coutanche and his team have been working on a drivers licensing database for Jersey already. So I guess you could say that not only do they have the experience but they virtually have an off the shelf package with a bit of amendment.
