Chinahand
Anarchy and Chaos - its an absolute disaster for the inhabitants of Gaza and the West Bank. The US is saying it will give full aid to the emergency government - the dust is far from settled on this one, and Great Power meddling is a huge and unpredictible factor in it. More than likely many more people will die before it even starts to be sorted out - and even then it seriously damages the prospects of the peace process restarting. Political crisis in Israel, civil war in the Occupied territories, violence in Lebanon, mass murder and anarchy in Iraq, repression in Egypt. Isn't the Middle East great at the moment. Yes, I am assuming that, but it seems a pretty fair assumption - even the Israelis would struggle to engineer something like this. Doubt they'll be doing much to discourage it though - anything that reduces sympathy for the Palestinians works pretty nicely for them.
Declan
Headline in the Times on Saturday was "Gaza wakes up in Hamastan". Thought "that must have been one hell of a bender, for the emotional Geordie."
