Mr Woo
She was due to leave this morning bound for Ireland. You wouldn't have seen her on the Webcam anyway as she was moored up the harbour.
Rhumsaa
I went down in the evening to see it and it was a fine vessel not sure I'd like to go out in the sea in it though!
Minxie
Why do they always refer to boats as 'she' and never 'he'? (please don't make any rude jokes about being full of sea men ). It used to be considered unlucky for women to be on board ships, so why refer to them as female?
Albert Tatlock
Why do they always refer to boats as 'she' and never 'he'? (please don't make any rude jokes about being full of sea men ). It used to be considered unlucky for women to be on board ships, so why refer to them as female? "This old tradition is thought to stem from the fact that in the Romance languages, the word for "ship" is always in the feminine. For this reason, Mediterranean sailors always referred to their ship as "she", and the practice was adopted over the centuries by their English-speaking counterparts."
