WTF Posted September 13, 2007 Share Posted September 13, 2007 "mainland".......ut oh, let the flaming of the BBC begin...... it is the british mainland, at no point does it state that the isle of man is british anything. if it was on the isle of white that would be british but not the mainland. same as wales would be welsh mainland and the same for scotland. lots of scotish non mainland options with all those islands and i think anglesey would be welsh non mainland?? A significant difference is that Anglesey and the Isle of Wight are governed by the uk - they return MPs. It is only the mainland in the same way that the English should refer to Europe as the mainland. Mind you - the UK returns euro mps and is largely governed by europe so perhaps people in the UK should be starting to think about the Mainland in those terms...
