momo65
The Tynwald report into provision of GP out of hours services suggest 3 centres - one at Nobles, one in Ramsey and one in the South. Given that each of these would cost about half a million pounds a year to run and the ones in the north and south would see 2-3 patients every 8 hours is that a sensible suggestion? momo65
How much Value do you put on a persons Life ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That slightly trite response ignores the reality that MEDS isn't about the life-threatening immediate response stuff - that is best dealt with by the ambulance service and an A&E department. MEDS generally deals with the non-life thretening but distressing problems. The tynwald commitee acknowleges that situation as a reality and as best practice. Therefore (and almost certainly in reality) it follows that in terms of lives saved 3 cemtres would be no more effective than one. Indeed if you ring MEDS with, say, chest pain, you are advised to dial 999 (which is the recommended course of action throughout the UK too).
