Moghrey Mie
Plans to build a £4.2m specialist unit to treat dementia patients at Farmhill on the Isle of Man are agreed by Tynwald. Source : http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/world/...man/7051071.stm Great news. Now they need a proper community service for dementia sufferers and their families. www.admiralnurse.org is good model For many years the IOM government has encouraged people to come and retire here. They have to take the consequences of that policy. Many older people are here with no immediate family to care for them In fact they should have a proper Policy for the Elderly in the same way they have one for Young People. There was a review of services for older people some years ago, with sensible suggestions, but they were never implemented. Does that sound familiar? Gladys
Dandara must have got wind of this before the press release as they have been working on that patch of land for the past two or three weeks. One would hope that they were not privy to decisions before the decisions were made.
Chopsticks
In the future more people will have dementia, the government says. Also in tonight's hot breaking news stories, Pope prays, bears shit in woods!

One would hope that they were not privy to decisions before the decisions were made. isn't that the norm ? 1 start work on site 2 dig footings and pour concrete 3 apply for planning 4 apply for variation to planning when the original doesn't match where the concrete was poured 5 don't tell the government they need more schools for the hundreds of extra kids in the area 6 dig up the roads again as they weren't adequate for the extra traffic 7 add traffic lights and roundabouts to cope with (or cause more) the congestion 8 add speed bumps and yellow lines to cause even more congestion 9 apply for permission to remove listed trees because the new owners can't get house insurance as the houses were built within 30ft of 60ft trees [/cynic mode]

TerryMcCann
Where are they going to build it? - and more importantly - where are they going to build it? No idea but they really should look at building some kind of dementia unit first
