just a quick question, i've got my 360 connected up to a TFT monitor in my room at the moment, the speakers are....well shit to be honest. I've just been checking online for USB speaker set-ups and was wondering if it's possible to put USB speakers through the 360's USB ports?

Cheers! :D

That's the one I've got!

Are you a friend's friend of mine or something? (Although it is of course conceieveable that more than one person on the IOM has such a setup.)

£200 isn't peanuts of course, but every single 360 game (as far as I can tell) supports proper 5:1 sound and if you've got the space to get the speakers set up properly (most obviously the rear ones), the effect is truly amazing. (Also, if you use your 360 as a DVD player, you'll get 5:1 DTS sound off the DVDs as well.)

Now that it's dark after school I'm considering getting a 360 soon ish. Maybe.

Presumably it has on optical out, so you can just plug that into an existing surround sound system?

Also, what can the hard drive be used for? Can I transfer stuff to it, xvids etc (like I do to my modded xbox) or is it just for downloading official stuff from microsoft?

So you can rob one without getting caught? :)

Yep

Nope. This sucks really, but while it does support mpeg 4, it doesn't do xvid/divx. It will stream h264 from a windows media though, or you can plug a usb hd in and streamify off that, which is an ace way of watching hd content.

Bah! What's the point in 120 gigs if you can't fill it with porn? Premium it is then.

This is the point

The Xbox 360, along with Akimbo, will be among the first mass-market devices able to download high def television programs -- and the first we know of in the states able to download HD movies. The service is called Xbox Live Video, and the fall update enables customers to spend their Microsoft points on standard and HD television from CBS, MTV, Comedy Central, VH1, Turner, and UFC, as well as HD movies from Warner Bros., Paramount, and so on. We're still a little in shock, ourselves, that Microsoft was able to in one fell swoop hit TiVo, Apple, Netflix, and a handful of others, but looking at Live over the last year, the move isn't that massively surprising. Of course, not even the vision of on-demand HD movies and TV downloads in six million homes at the flick of a switch could be without its variety of niggling concerns; being that we all know the devil's in the details, click on to get the particulars of the service.

Been available in the US for nearly a year now , and at some point in the future it will be rolled out in Europe. If you are considering the 360 , the Elite is the way to go.

There's still no elites with the falcon chipset though is there?

I'd buy a falcon (halo3 edition) and upgrade the hard disk later if required.

Apparently not even all the Halo 3 consoles have the new chipset

Take a look here , quite interesting really. The feedback I have got is that the Elite's are running much quieter and cooler than any Premium. Probably the best thing to do is to maybe wait a while and let all new models get onto the market , hopefully they will have the new falcon chipset and everyone will be a happier bunny ;)
