A coroner has said anyone who thinks we don’t have a drugs problem on the Island is a fool.

Michael Moyle was speaking this morning at an inquest into the death of a 27 year old who was found dead in Douglas after overdosing on drugs.

Peter James Egan, who didn’t have a fixed address, was discovered collapsed on a landing at a guest house in Mona Drive on 13th October.

A post mortem revealed the cause of death was illicit use of intravenous substances.

There were signs of heroin abuse.

Adjourning the inquest until police inquiries are complete, Mr Moyle added anyone who thinks the drugs situation here is getting better is living in a world of their own.

Can't argue with that.

Right - who knows what to do if someone 'goes under' while on heroin? Where are the government leaflets telling people this information? I think getting them to try & keep awake is quite important, cant remember all the rest of the stuff but I dont socialise with any users atm so, its not relevant.

someone I know..... was in the paper for heroin again this week - do you know he didnt take heroin until he came out of prison addicted to Codine? oh yes MF favourite pass time party drug, codine - it is a synthesised version of an opiate (you knows it) - how many of the regular codine users on this forum see themselves in the same light as a junky?

I could go on and on and on about this but, what is the point? no one who can make a difference wants to listen. And there are far more important issues than being allowed to take drugs, the prohibition has not worked, people do as they please.

Edit to take a name out.

Probably right, although I think that's what you're supposed to do with anybody falling unconscious whether they've taken drugs or not. That, and call an ambulance. And I think most people would do that, rather than dumping the person outside and denying all knowledge, which seems to be par for the course if the media is to be believed.

A touch of plagiarism

I have NO sympathy for anyone who knowly injects drugs of this nature then collapses and dies.

Everyone who does this type of thing is aware of the risks involved...

People do not start taking heroin by injecting it. I dont think the young lad would want your sympathy. If he had been taking clean heroin he might not have been injecting it and he might not have died.

How did he get to the hall way?
