ISLE OF MAN AIRPORT ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR

EXECUTIVE JET FACILITY

The Isle of Man Airport has identified Island Aviation And Travel Limited (IAAT) as its partner for an exciting new executive jet facility and aircraft hangarage development with VIP passenger facilities. The formal agreement between both parties is subject to contract and is currently being finalised. The agreement as envisaged will provide a fifty-year ground lease to IAAT on the proposed site, which is located between the Airport and the Manx Aviation Preservation Society Museum site. IAAT will invest between £3-4 million on the 2,800sqm Executive Jet Facility site, which will also include the development of an additional 2,100sqm aircraft apron area and private car park area . Detailed plans are currently in production and it is envisaged that the planning process will begin in the near future.

There are currently no dedicated facilities for VIP passengers or executive aircraft at Ronaldsway, however the introduction of the Island’s Aircraft Register in May this year has proved to be the catalyst to get this project underway. When the development is completed, the Isle of Man will be able to offer a discrete, high quality, efficient and secure service to visiting and ‘resident’ executive aircraft owners and VIP passengers. Going forward, the tangible benefits of the new executive jet facilities should also boost numbers on the local Aircraft Registry.

Established in 1984, Island Aviation & Travel Ltd (IAAT) is based at the Isle of Man Airport and specialises in Corporate Aircraft Management, Private Executive Aircraft Operations and Aircraft Handling and Hangarage. The IAAT aviation management team has an established reputation with over 100 years combined experience within the industry. The company’s experience, professionalism and expertise across the fullspectrum of aviation services, combined with its specific operational experience over a varied range of aircraft types and states of registration, are just some of the strengths that resulted in IAAT being chosen for this development, subject to contract agreement.

IAAT has been a long standing supplier of ground handling services at Isle of Man Airport and is a leading player in general aviation. It has already played a key role in actively promoting and attracting a wide range of large executive corporate jet aircraft using the facilities at Isle of Man Airport. Since 2003, IAAT has continued to provide 95% of the general aviation handling to executive jet aircraft visiting the Isle of Man.

The New Executive Jet terminal facility proposed will be an elegant and modern building, with impressive floor to ceiling glass panels surrounding the full 2 floors of ancillary accommodation. The key features are likely to include:

2,800 sq. m. of hangarage space, apron area and private car parking

· 24 hours security covering the whole of the developed area

· Dedicated security administration designed to give minimum delay to passengers

· Main reception offices

· Dedicated handling teams providing the personal touch for clientele

· Handling personnel on call 24 hrs

· Well appointed business conference facilities

· VIP lounge

· Crew lounge

· Washroom facilities with showers and changing rooms of the highest standard

· Customs and immigration clearance facilities

· Computerised flight planning and filing

· World wide weather reporting system

· Wireless internet access in all areas

· Serviced office areas for rental to appropriate aviation connected business only

· Appointed Aircraft registration administration offices

Capt. John Critchley, Managing Director of IAAT said, “We have witnessed a global trend for people to travel privately, either via charter or executive aircraft since 2001. High quality executive aircraft and passenger facilities are now expected by people who regularly use these services. This is an excellent opportunity for the Isle of Man to put itself on the map, the timing couldn’t be better as we are welcoming an increasing number of high profile and influential people to the Island.”

Airport Director Ann Reynolds said, “This is a really exciting time at the Isle of Man Airport and we are delighted to be working in partnership with IAAT. Subject to the necessary planning approvals being granted, we are optimistic that the first phase of construction will be completed before the end of 2008, so the Airport will be able to offer world class executive services within a relatively short period of time.”

David Anderson, Minister for the Department of Transport, comments, “I think we are extremely fortunate to have engaged with such a proactive and professional partner on this project. IAAT has a proven track record at the Isle of Man Airport, and has in fact been a strong supporter for the development of these facilities for a long while. We are confident that their ambitious plans will be delivered as expediently as possible and that we will all be very proud of the end result.”

It would not be fair if the Executives and toffs have the fat man behind their bar "serving" them instead of us plebs.

Though I have not seen him lately

The real weebly dude hasnt been there for a while....although his slack jawed colleague with the glasses is holding up the fort nicely. If you are that miserable in a job...work somewhere else. And dont get me started on the security staff before you even get to the lounge......
