Oh it's true for sure, they take over in January.

Now let's see what's around for development;

Marina;

Hotels;

Run down town centre;

Multi storey car park possibly;

Compliant commissioners.

Oh George, save us from ourselves.

There is very little left of historic Ramsey (the commissioners demolished most of it - for a reward they got the mess around St Pauls) but what is left is on the harbour - see it while you can before it suddenly catches fire and has to be demolished.

Why not turn the queens pier into a link span for the ferries ?

2 birds one stone :lol:

Lets hope they keep up the good service they give, as a customer i find the company really good.

I'd much rather see Ramsey developed as a commercial port for freight. Build a new industrial park in Andreas/Jurby, get the lorries etc off the roads around Douglas.

Two main ports, each specialising in freight or passengers, far more sensible than trying to force everything into one area.

Wait for the planning permission to build a RO-RO Linkspan in Ramsey for Car Ferries to dock at!

By definition they are clearly in the business of wanting to bring people (and now goods!) here - and looking after them whilst they are here.

Ideally, I would like to see a passenger/car service operating from Ramsey, followed by them instigating the build of an F1/F2/bike racing circuit (and more hotels and support infrastructure) in the north of the island.

Suddenly - with such a move - lots of things seem possible in the long term.

If only, but with the Chief Minister from Castletown and the majority of elected (and non-elected) reps from the middle and south the prevailing attitude of stuff Ramsey and the north is inevitably going to continue. Even the presentation of two Ministers from Ramsey is a sop, one has been there for 20 years and achieved nought, the second is too busy opening schools the previous administration has provided to be effective at anything remotely strategic about Ramsey's future.

Maybe...but always remember that it is business that usually drives what really happens on the island. Taxi drivers, chimney sweeps and failed businessmen usually get swept aside in the big scheme of things.
