I'd much rather see Ramsey developed as a commercial port for freight. Build a new industrial park in Andreas/Jurby, get the lorries etc off the roads around Douglas.

Two main ports, each specialising in freight or passengers, far more sensible than trying to force everything into one area.

Far to logical, can you imagine Ramsey being allowed to develop and flourish? Whatever next

Oh it's true for sure, they take over in January.

Now let's see what's around for development;

Marina;

Hotels;

Run down town centre;

Multi storey car park possibly;

Compliant commissioners.

Oh George, save us from ourselves.

Ramsey

If only, but with the Chief Minister from Castletown and the majority of elected (and non-elected) reps from the middle and south the prevailing attitude of stuff Ramsey and the north is inevitably going to continue. Even the presentation of two Ministers from Ramsey is a sop, one has been there for 20 years and achieved nought, the second is too busy opening schools the previous administration has provided to be effective at anything remotely strategic about Ramsey's future.

Is there a LOCAL PLAN for Ramsey?

If so where can I see a copy?

has any considered that as shipping companies don't figure in GL's plan that bit may be sold off (to IoMSPCo ?) with the property developed as apartments + another walled village ?

You mean. Its something that will be bought broken up and then sold on without the owner doing anything tangible in the meantime. Surely that is not his style? ;)

Afternoon

Just wondered how you would propose all the retailers in Douglas may receive their bulk goods. If you can come up with another form of delivery apart from lorries/HGV's , I reckon you would be well on your way to being extremely wealthy.

It has taken a ruddy lifetime and mega bucks to turn Douglas into a half decent freight facility (still some way off) and now it should be broken up?

Take all the ruddy cars off the road for those too feckin lazy to walk or too shagging high and mighty to get a bus to work within the boundary of Douglas Onchan Braddan. Ban kids getting lifts to and from school and make them walk as well or bus it or walk them in yourselves.

The majority of the population live in and around the above area, a 45 min walk or a ten min bus shuffle, 10/12 mins on a pushbike.

He is over the last
