mollag
Tels have postponed any charges they proposed to levy, i think there is some brinkmanship going on here, not the proper job of Gov, they should be above such things.
Dodger
At least the Western Civic amenity site will be open tomorrow! Back to normal hours, from now on, just in case you haven't heard, contractors have been brought in to cover staff sickness.
Mission
I'm going down in the morning after the school run just to see what's going on. I hope to see a mass brawl between Tels staff, DOLGE officials and Dudley Butt in a white and black striped shirt and a whistle. Scrapheap challenge? andrew
From EnergyFM's Website: Tip row comes to a head There's police presence at Middle River Industrial Estate this afternoon as we wait to see what happens in the row over the tip's contract. Current contractors Tel’s Skips Limited have been told they have to leave the site tomorrow, after the tender went to Douglas Corporation. Officials from the Corporation and the Department of Local Government and the Environment are expected to ask for the keys this afternoon. However, Tels insist they still have a vaild contract and won't be budging. Our reporter Amy Mulhern spoke to me live from the scene a few mins ago...[take cut] "The tip's due to shut (4pm) and the gates locked. Representatives from Douglas Corporation are waiting outside the tip alongside police officers who are overseeing the situation. Terry from Tel's still says they're not budging, so we're waiting to see if there will be some sort of stand-off..." We'll bring you the latest on this story as we get it. spock
and if Tell's handed over the keys how are Douglas Corpn going to get in to take possession? Will the Police be in attendance and 'assist' the removal of Tel's operatives from the site? Who will decide for the Police whether their actions are either assisting such a lawful or as it sounds am unlawful action of the Corpn should they decide to go in? mollag
Seems Dolge and DC turned to at the site with a letter saying please leave, Tels replied that they had yet to be served with a valid notice to quit , which is the subject of an ongoing court case, and when they did they would be pleased to comply with it, DOLGEDC said Oh, alright then and left, sans dignity, eggy faced . Press and police were invited to the party by DOLGEDC. So the pantomime continues, you would think with all those civil servants, councillers, lawyers, ex policemen etc that they could get something like this right. Tels family are now on site 24hrs a day in case of monkey business from DOLGEDC, wot a bloody shambles. Perhaps our representitives would like to explain why its business as usual down at the amenity site and not as they promised it would be? Update Just been down to City Elec, noticed the amenity gates now closed, asked the guy on the othe side of the gate who says that Tels have been instructed by DOLGEDC to close the site for 3 days, Tels will still be there but not allowed to open for the 3 days, back open again on Monday
