Parents on the Isle of Man are reminded they must register their children for school.

It must be really difficult to plan the education and health services here not knowing how many will turn up.

When we came to the island we didn't have to register to say we had arrived.

Surely asking people to declare their arrival would not do any harm. It wouldn't mean you are restricting them coming here. But it would help with the planning.

"if they want them to attend"

A very good point. If the circumstances were right I wouldn't mind educating our children at home. This is not to say that Isle of Man schools are not very good. However, we worry that they are picking up too much trendy stuff from accross and are getting away from the basics. Juts heard from friends in New Zealand who are packing up work and taking their two pre school kids off sailing for a few years. The New Zealand Government supplies a home schooling correspondence course.

Good luck to them!
