Despite Obama's poll lead, I suspect this is still going to be a pretty close election.

It will be hard fought to the end, but I doubt it will be close (unless some major new development). To close the lead McCain would have to win independents; the base is to small for him to win by depending on just retaining loyalty from Republicans.

Look at swing states or 'battleground states' - Colorado now seems to have swung to Obama.

Part of that is that independents / swing voters have swung away from McCain-Palin, a fair amount of which is to do with Palin.

Colorado at 52 42 in favour of Obama is indicative of the problem McCain faces.

Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio... Obama only needs 270 Electoral College votes - at moment it looks like he might get up to 364. So unless something wildly unexpected happens, the good-ol-boys have gotten their hands on an anti-tank missile, or the CGI team are working on a goat porn video, then it's a wrap.

Why would you think it might be pretty close AT?

Why would you think it might be pretty close AT?

The American Elephant in the room; chads, hanging chads and pregnant chads etc; and the electoral corruption evident in the system over the past two elections - to name but a few.

I can't hear any fat ladies singing at the moment (whatever happened to Michelle McManus by the way?).

No it ain't over, but at the moment it's looking like Obama will take more than enough EC votes - no reason to think it will be close.

American Elephant in the room? (can you clarify). Chads, electoral rigging etc. Too hard with such a big majority, and lessons have been learned by Democrats. Perhaps GOP might be taking advice from Mugabe's election management team, but even they weren't able to really salvage it for him.

Financial and economic crisis ends + hundreds of thousands of Americans suddenly turn to evangelism in next couple of weeks + Obama alienates Hispanics in Presidential debate. I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Republican's have lost their chance - Palin should have stood down in view of financial crisis to make way for an economic guru VP nominee. Too late now.

McCain talks about reforming science education in schools

I just hope that doesn't mean teaching creationism etc.

The thing is, I seem to recall McCain once saying that he accepts the theory of evolution. Unfortunately he's in a divided political party and has decided to pander to its (fairly large) lunatic fringe (just as I suspect Obama is pandering to the teaching unions a little with his toys and loot policy).

I'm not sure about reforming Science Education in US schools but we surely need to reform English language education in British schools after this......

Lets start with the first lesson and marks out of 10 (1 mark lost for every mistake).

I have lost all intrest in this thing since that stupid pitbull started. If McCain wants to win he should push her(e removed) straight of a cliff and cheer every fucker up, followed shortly by George W Bush. I hope in 1000 years time, when they teach their kids, they miss out the two turns in office that he has had. What a(n removed) complete and utter ass.

That's -6/10

:P

(Now I just hope that I've not made any typing mistakes here!)

I like this game :P Can I have a few points, too?

I have lost all interest (e inserted) in this thing since that stupid pitbull started. If McCain wants to win he should push her(e removed) straight off(f inserted) a cliff and cheer every fucker up, followed shortly by George W Bush. I hope in 1000 years time, when they teach their kids, they miss out the two terms (change of word) in office that he has had. What a(n removed) complete and utter ass.

Any more for any more? :D
