ans
Plenty of people have often lamented the poor implementation of ignore user in the software this forum uses. Instead of removing elements entirely, it simply hides them and provides a 'Click here' to display them. Often this is all too tempting to click and doesn't really help. Anyway, I've mentioned this a couple of times before now but I hand coded a Greasemonkey script for Firefox a couple of years ago now which completely removed all elements for a couple of people I was weary of. It was clunky, the code was messy and it didn't remove the content when other people quoted them in their replies. Not ideal, but it did a job of sorts so I was happy but I never released it to anyone else because it wasn't doing the whole job. So, I took the notion this morning to rewrite my script from scratch to see if I could make it fulfil all the requirements, and after 30 minutes of struggling with my rusty scripting skills, I did a quick check on the Greasemonkey repository to see if anyone had any code I could steal to plug in and to my delight, I found a script that actually did the whole job for me. Couple of minor tweaks to make it apply to Manxforums by default and bosh, job done. It adds a new option to the left of the 'My Controls Link' called User Ignore List which when clicked will launch up a couple of self explanatory options, screenshot below. It's neat, it's transparent and it works. So for the people continually whining about certain posters winding them up, or for the people that have simply grown tired of other people, this is a foolproof way of completely removing them yourself. You need to be running Firefox obviously, and you need to install Greasemonkey. Once you've done that, simply download the attached .js file (zipped up) and drag it onto an open Firefox window. Install, configure, enjoy the peace and quiet. manxforumsuserignorelist.user.zip

Mr. Sausages
Hurrah! I've had someone on ignore for a couple of years and it's made for nicer experience. Now I shall banish him forever into the a dark abyss full of bottom touching demons with spiky gloves.

Mr. Sausages
I'm still seeing quotes. Is this because they've been edited? I.e. only a particular part of the post is included in the quote?
ans
I'm not sure. It's not my code now. I'll do some tests tomorrow when I'm sober.

By all means dont respond or reply ect if u wish but............ I think 2 put anyone on "ignore" is quite ignorant!!! It's an age old forums problem, I've never quite understood it myself because to my way of thinking it's pretty easy to use the POWER OF THE MIND to ignore someone, but some folks simply won't quit pissing and moaning about such-and-such and all the nasty things they say etc etc. I implemented an Ignore function on a set of forums I admin, and even that wasn't enough, because the aggrieved parties claimed there were still visible traces of the people they were trying to ignore, so I then had to get a Super Ignore mod and hack about with that so that the ignored people did indeed completely disappear. (And even that didn't work because they then moaned that other people were talking about who they were trying to ignore, at which point I told them to piss off and watch some porn to ease their obvious inner tensions.)
