Oh ****. That would be bad for the Island. Unlike those jokers who had the HS748s a year or two ago, EM are a proper airline and have given us excellent service after a shaky start. (All the post so far just my opinion m'lud) . It would just be back to the usual IOM monopoly situation then. Fingers crossed (and a booking made this am) for EM.

To the extent that there is any implication of something sinister or financially irregular the owners and mods disassociate themselves from it

The news that planes were to go has been public knowledge since October 2007

Euromanx puts two aircraft up for sale

EUROMANX has put two of its aircraft up for sale.

AMS Aircraft Limited is offering the planes, which will be available from April, for sale as exclusive agent.

Between them the two planes provide 86 passenger seats but Euromanx chief executive officer John Seymour insisted passengers would not be affected by the sale.

'Airlines assess their fleet on an ongoing basis. It's normal business practice for an airline,' he said.

The aircraft for sale are a 50 passenger seat Dash 8-311, registration OEHBC, built in 1999, and a 36 passenger seat Dash 8-201, registration OEHBB, built in 2000.

The larger plane has spent 13,500 hours in the air and has taken off and landed 17,600 times, while the other has spent 12,500 hours in the air and has taken off and landed 16,800 times.

Mr Seymour refused to explain the criteria used in making the decision to sell the aircraft.

'Euromanx are considering their options and have been doing this for the best part of three years now and will continue doing so,' he said.

It isn't unknown for businesses to liquidate their assets and lease them back so that they can raise revenue for other capital projects. Alternatively they could be selling them because they are costly to maintain!! Doesn't always mean bad news when a company sells an asset.

of course they won't be affected, they can't fill the bloody seats in the first place with passengers so why would the seats going make any difference??

My recent trip on Euromanx via the horror of Manchester 'airport' was on an almost deserted plane - 12 passengers (max). Good company but I could understand them selling out.

I think what is food for thought is that with quite a few rumours here and around the island about them going under that no one has made any real statement to deny this only vague answers

A lot of company's have a policy of not commenting on rumours.

Unsurprisingly, the media haven't picked up these unsubstantied claims, which makes them as doubious as those who were saying the Polish shop was a cover for a brothel.
