manshimajin
And what about those Rhodes scholars, another shower in my opinion VinnieK's magic facts and trivia: The Rhodes scholarship was actually created in some kind of quasi-conspirational attempt to create a group of prominant figures who would further British power and interests throughout the globe. Nowadays it's just Plan B for people who don't get onto the Fullbright. Wasn't William Clinton a Rhodes Scholar? Boris has written an excellent book on the Roman Empire, The Dream of Rome; it indicate that behind all that bendy-bus buffoonery he has a good mind. A deep insight into Roman politics could be excellent training for a Lord Mayor of London. I wonder what insightful books our own politicians have written? Any suggestions for topics they might consider?

Yeah, in a former incarnation Boris won a classics prize at school Can't say I cared much for The Dream of Rome, or the TV series accompanying it though, and he was on dodgy ground talking about a Roman identity and Romanization (his ideas on that regard are about twenty years too old). A deep insight into Roman politics could be excellent training for a Lord Mayor of London. Byzantine might be even more appropriate;)
