ai_Droid
Agree it's a disgrace. It's Manx Radio. They may be OK as a local radio station, but whenever they seem to get involved with theme pubs, discount card schemes or anything vaguely technical on the internet it always seems to go wrong for them Agree. Energy is a fully commercial station, and their stream is a higher quality, and free.
rob_c
Saw this thread then watched on ITV4 TT The race that time forgot. Towards the end of the excellent film, Mr Duke himself says.. "Well I, I think commercialism is the, is the big change with all forms, well all forms of sport, let alone motor and motorcycle racing and I think we're fortunate in a way that that motorcycle racing was, and particularly the TT, was one of the last to succumb to this quest for more and more money." who's fortunate? Polar Bear
Agree it's a disgrace. As a public funded body MR has a role to explain, advertise and get people interested in, and coming to, the island. Charging for this service should be rethunk and IMO scrapped immediately. What is "rethunk"? Did you mean "rethought"? Anyway, I agree. MR is supposed to be a commercial station (why else does it accept and broadcast adds?) so why should the taxpayer be expected to foot the bill? There's a question in the Keys today - asking about the logic behind Manx Radio charging locals to listen to Radio TT online.

It gets tax payer funding because it provides public service broadcasting.
