Stu Peters
I used to make his telly and radio ads in the 80's - in the days before huge shopping malls, people flocked from far and wide to shop at TB's. They had coach parties and a cafe in the store in Blackburn IIRC. And all my shoes had a hole in the heel. Nice bloke - he died recently, but I expected his family would take over the business. Cret
I despised that shop as a child. Whenever we were on holiday, we'd always have to stop off at Tommy Ball's and sit in the car for hours while my folks went bargain shoe hunting in there. I'm sure the time spent was careful deliberation over what particular slippers would be most efficient for whacking purposes.
