Frances
Apparently one bike braked hard when entering the 40 zone, a police car was parked up there, so what speed did he intend to go at if the panda hadn't been there ?
yehyehyeh
obviously a lot more than 40......
Frances
if it's the 40 zone I'm thinking it is then this was instigated after a biker killed a pensioner a couple of years ago

A vehicle comes around the corner sees a police car or speed camera the vehicle brakes hard to obey the limit and an accident happens. It's for this reason that speed cameras should never be installed on the Island.
Mission
You could argue they should have adjusted their speed accordingly for the limit, police car sat there or not.
Frances
again on the proviso it's the 40 limit I think it is, then the 40 signs are clearly visible at some distance - no sudden braking required
sarahc
Brill. On to speed cameras already. I hope he wasn't smoking.
True Grit
Hi Fast bikes or fast cars, limit or no limit some will break it and more so when engaged in the atmosphere of the festival. It happens day to day week to week, festival to festival, one motorsport to another. What puzzles me is with a national speed limit in most countries why is there a need for cars/bikes to be built to specifically go faster than is legally allowed? WTF
What puzzles me is with a national speed limit in most countries why is there a need for cars/bikes to be built to specifically go faster than is legally allowed? True Grit economy?, although there may be a speed limit in most countries, there is no specified acceleration limit in G's or whatever. most vehicles have a 0-60 time listed and the quicker the better for some. IF you can get from 0-60 in 4 secs there is obviously a ton of power available so the vehicle is geared to maximise fuel effeciency at that speed in top gear. the fact that it can hit close to 200mph is an aside, but they do seem to quote top speeds too. perhaps that has something to do with people who intend to use the vehicle for legitimate racing events?? power does not necessarilly mean speed though, HGV's have tons of power and torque, but they can hardly be considered fast. True Grit
Hi Obviously I am confused if one is not allowed to exceed say 70mph then why are vehicles sold/built to exceed that limit. If it was about fuel? economy would we not all be forced to ride bicycle's or even milk floats, just does not seem logical to me, hey what does/ True Grit PS Please do not get me wrong I absolutely love speed in the combustion engine sense. Judging by traffic on the Castletown-Douglas road cars are built to exceed the limit so that their drivers can reach Douglas 15-30 seconds faster than the people they overtake whilst at the same time making a voluntary additional payment of Excise Duty and VAT by burning more fuel. Clearly a lot of folk really don't care whether petrol costs 50p or 2.50 per litre. We should honour and encourage them for their contibutions to the economy.
