Frances
is there any truth to the rumour that the maintenance costs of the mountain road have been transferred to the tourism budget ?
TerryMcCann
Who is the mountain road closed for (filming) is it top gear again ? It's just closed for a laugh. The DoT are having digger races along the mountain mile. Although I believe they call it 'surface dressing' officially

thesultanofsheight
I would love to know how much of our money is being wasted just to keep this section of road closed everytime you want to use it. I reckon road tax would be £10 a year if we didn't have to stump up for 'essential' TT and MGP maintenence.

Hang on, so people want there to be improvements to road surfacing on the island, and then complain when the road is closed to lay a new surface? Lost Login
Hang on, so people want there to be improvements to road surfacing on the island, and then complain when the road is closed to lay a new surface? I think it is a question of whether you need to continually upgrade the best maintained road on the Island whilst letting many other fall well below an acceptable standard or whether a bit less time and money should be spent on the mountain road in order to try and improve these other roads. Max Power
The whole TT course is a principal major road which gets a lot of use. Other major roads are kept in just as good a condition. You must be talking of some of the minor roads which don't carry anywhere near the volume of traffic. Besides, it's only fair to maintain a road which contibutes significantly to the economy of the Island and is in fact one of the most famous stretches of tarmac in the world. Unlike much else that exists on the Island.

tameelf
seems they just poured some adhesive then added gravel that has in some places pooled and caused a ripple effect. that was not there before the alleged maintenance
