Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne said he was "99.9% sure" that the disease was not yet on the island.

He said: "At the moment we are 99.9% sure that we don't have these disease but the order gives us the powers to go in and check that.

Overuse of the phrase "99.9% sure".

Importation of bees was prohibited by an order of the Board of Agriculture (or whatever it was) about 20 years ago, so why blow trumpets now ?, has the only fella who knew about it retired and they have just rediscovered it ?.

Following that order the local beekeepers set up a queen rearing operation to have 'home grown' queen bees which are needed from time to time to improve the strength of hives by introducing a young queen if the present queen is getting old and not laying well and the hive is not collecting much honey.

There seems to be no results if you search the gov.im website for the older documents, perhaps they hadn't uploaded the archives that far back.

"Half a bee, philosophically, must ipso facto half not be.

But half the bee has got to be vis-à-vis its entity - d'you see?

But can a bee be said to be or not to be an entire bee when half the bee is not a bee due to some ancient injury?"
