Airport Emergency?

as Captain Bob said, looks like he landed on 21 and stopped, no ripping on of hand brakes!

If the 195 did land 21 and stop at the intersection it kinda makes you wonder if we need a longer runway?

Just seen the video clip which shows things a bit more clearly looking up runway 03. I wouldn't have thought they'd have landed on 21 ( a bit short )- it is actually more likely they've actually turned though 50 degrees left after landing on 26 . The wind was veering from the south east through to the southwest this morning.

when have you heard of two incidents happening on the same day involving transport to and from a small island?

The last time was only a week or so back, when Ben and Viking went out of action, and there was fog on the Tyne at the airport

That'll be the same gust of wind that blew the boat backwards against the landing stage at Liverpool then?

Maybe Flybe and the Steam Packet don't mention wind to their drivers when explaining how to to steer their pointed ends.

A bit of an unwarranted slight on the professionalism and skill of the Steam Packet and Airline crews there Domino.

As has been mentioned, it is a standard procedure in such incidents to deliberately turn the aircraft into wind to ensure that any flames present, particularly from the engines, do not blow onto the fuselage, which is of course where the passengers are seated.

Snaefell seems to have been called on as a safety boat by being diverted on its return from Dublin

edit 7/8/08

seems from a report in the paper today that the Snaefell was diverted to assist a yacht near the sound until the lifeboat attended, just a coincidence about the same time
