[BBC News] Coastguard staff in pay walkout

I don't know many people who can live on £12,500 a year whilst running a house, a car and bringing up kids etc. It seems a very reasonable request IMO. There's a sh1t load of money tied up in a sh1t load of boats, and if they are 'struggling to find the money' maybe they should consider upping registration fees for boat owners to cover it.

Waiting for all you anti union posters to complain

Which anti-union posters?

Sensible people make their minds up according to the facts of each case, not as a matter of rigid orthodoxy.

Some union members are paid well, others badly. The latter may merit a rise, the former may not.

At the end of the day, I suspect that coastguard staff work because they love the job, and the money is secondary. It would seem that their employers (the union-funded Labour government) take advantage of this.

Stop fighting wars that were won more than half a century ago. The situation is more complex than the Daily Worker would have you believe. It needs thought, not slogans.
