Skeddan
And what would be the good of education if some hostile territory decided to invade the IOM if it had no means of defending itself? Are you suggesting the UK would not be responsible for IoM's defence if this voluntary 'token of appreciation' was not paid? Is Guernsey at risk of being invaded by some 'hostile territory'? If £2m p.a. does not actually make an iota of difference to protecting IoM against invasion etc. then this expenditure gives no value for money and Karellen has a good point that this would be better spent elsewhere. Meanwhile it seems IoM is the major source of foreign aid received by the UK.
