How much longer will the ratepayers of Douglas be prepared to continue subsidising this relic of our historic mass tourist industry? Times are tough now and will get worse before they get better and we should be making cost savings where we can.

Lets be realistic, would any of our remaining tourists miss the ride past row upon row of identikit apartments and the "aroma" that permeates the promenade?

They quoted that they urge locals to use it if they want to keep it. So if locals are not using it in such light then it is clear for the majority that we aren't fussed. Put the horses in the Home of Rest for old Horses and the Granny Carriages in the Museum. Job done, clean promenade.

doing the maths, if there are 20% less persons taking trips on the the trams, but only 50% of the the actual tram journeys over the previous year , each journey must be up on passengers by 60% compared to the previous year. so were they quieter or actually busier?? fucking statistics......

surely it is time to electrify ( with batteries ) the trams on the prom. after every btrip stick em on charge and wheel out a fully charged tram?? got to be cheaper than livery stables and vet bills and the staff to look after all the horse stuff and ofcourse no retired dog food to keep on richmond hill ( i know its a charity really ). or run the overhead wires and just run the MER the length of the prom too, a sort of mini blackpool. i don't agree with moving them to the prom walkway because they would spend half the time doused in seawater dependent on tides and weather.
