pongo
The latest edition of File On Four [bBC Radio 4] is very interesting and well worth listening to IMO. It is about the current financial crisis - specifically in relation to allegedly devious financial instruments which were called SIV-lites. The programme covers a variety of issues including the significant role of London and of the now discredited ratings agencies. The podcast is currently available at http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/radio4...81014-1621b.mp3 - or subscribe on iTunes. The programme is also currently available streamed via flash here at the BBC iPlayer.

Were back to Enron and Global Crossing - its all these "off balance sheet" vehicles that we now find out were "off balanace sheet" because they were to friggin risky to hold "on balance sheet". I have to say looking at markets today that the only cure for this is now a total crash of the system so that it can be rebuilt from scratch. All pumping billions into markets is doing is making it lumber from one mini crash to the next. Its like watching a drunk staggering up the road - you know inevitably he's going to fall flat on his face but people keep propping him up hoping he'll get home ok.
