So, I'm getting richer and the rich are .still getting richer. No change to the status quo then. What a stupid thing to report.

Seeing it is the rich who own and control everything in the country (and in the world) a few more pounds in my pocket or in my wages is not going change my position in society. Unless capitalism is destroyed you are going to have the rich and the rest.

But the report says the UK still has one of the highest levels of income inequality in the developed world.

 

Mr Pearson said that the narrowing of the wealth gap appeared to have "flattened off" in the years since 2005.

 

"Now we are entering a recession, which may increase inequality and poverty again," he warned.

 

Not exactly the 'feelgood' report that the headline suggests.
