Regard government as a necessary evil rather than a force for good, and be suspicious of it - ensuring checks, balances, oversight, accountability and transparency. I may despair at the hopeless inadequacy of the current crop of MHKs, but to the best of my knowledge none of them have spouses who have been convicted of fraud against the Isle of Man Government.
