homarus
It's good to see that they haven't wasted all the subsidy money they clawed back from fisheries, which was to be re -allocated within the industry as was said at the time ! I'd have hated to see them undertake a £5.5 mill frivolous project with the money, especially with both farming and fishing struggling at the minute
Pat Ayres
"We are pleased to be able to lead the way for the construction of an eco-development on the island and I am looking forward to seeing the project commence and develop over the coming 16 months." The base, due to open in 2011. Sums never were Phil's forte.
homarus
I believe there will be a quite lot of timber used in its construction and it will be sited next to the timber mill ! Personally I don't think they've thought it through very well, especially if "Phil" has a flashback!
Pat Ayres
Don't mention that. "Flashback" PMSL

Slim
You don't seem to get much for 5 million pounds these days. You'd get 15000 othadontic treatments for kids, where currently we have none. Far more important that these guys have a posh office to swan around in eh? There's a shitload of property that could be adapted for use for a fraction of the cost. Albert Tatlock
Why not just sack some of the grossly overstaffed civil service, not build anything - saving money, and energy. More extravangance, when the next budget is going to cut god only knows what!
jimbms
I have seen some of the plans for this, I won't comment it's not worth it
Lonan3
So how is the 'eco-development' to be heated? And what kind of drainage system is being used?
Albert Tatlock
At £5.5 million of tax payers hard earned, it's more of an Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! o-office.
