We Like The Moon
Totally over the top! Forensics for an incident where there were 2 policemen, FFS. They didnt do that when that man was murdered (sorry I mean 'open verdicted') in Willaston last year. Double standards. A police officer was seriously injured and I imagine after witnessing that - his collegue would have had his attention on tending to his injured partner rather than getting all the details of the vehicle.(I know I would panic in that situation) This was an "attempted murder" surely. To deliberately drive at someone, carry them on your bonnet and then spit them off - leaving them in a pretty bad way, there must be intent. They do not know who did this - if I recall there wasn't an unknown suspect at the Willaston job, they were all at the scene, hence less forensic activity to find an unknown assailant wheras in this case they need to find who did it, therefore as much forensic evidence as they can get is valuable. This is not double standards I imagine if this was a member of the public who was injured in this way exactly the same would be done.
WTF
I could be completely wrong but it is interesting to note that a 37 year-old man was found at a house in Mona Drive on 16 November and he later died in hospital. Manx Radio Report Police investigate death 17/11/2008 13:03:59 Police have launched an investigation after a man died in Douglas yesterday. The 37 year-old was found at a house in Mona Drive in the capital just after 2.30pm on Sunday, after police and paramedics were called to the scene. The man, who hasn't yet been named, was taken to Noble’s Hospital, but later died. More details are expected to be released later today and officers say they are not currently looking for anybody else in relation to the incident. Then: Forensic team in Mona Drive Forensic team in Mona Drive 29/11/2008 10:58:43 An investigation is under way into a serious incident in central Douglas overnight. Several police vans and forensic teams have descended on Mona Drive, off the promenade. A stretch of the road has been sealed off as detectives begin what appears to be a painstaking inquiry. Local residents have reported loud noise in the area overnight, but there's no official word yet on what has happened. Thomas Hudson, who lives in the neighbouring Empress Apartments, told Marian Kenny his partner was woken in the night by commotion outside and Hunt for motorist who drove into constable Hunt for motorist who drove into constable 29/11/2008 12:49:17 A police man hunt is underway after an officer was seriously injured by a driver who apparently drove into him deliberately. The male officer stopped to speak to a man in his car in Mona Drive, Douglas just after 3.30 this morning. Before he had finished, the man drove off and ran into the constable. Police say the officer was carried along on the vehicle, before being thrown into the road. The officer, who belongs to the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team, is being treated in hospital for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. Detectives say the car was driven off in the direction of Palace Road and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them. Thomas Hudson, who lives in the nearly Empress Apartments, says a detailed forensic search of the street has been carried out Anybody with information is asked to ring Police Headquarters on 631212, or the anonymous Crimestoppers line, on 0800 555 111. Obviously the last two items are connected but I do wonder if these are somehow linked to the first incident and the recent drugs raids that are being carried out. the connection is the location/area, every other week the police are appealing for witnesses to some drugged up pissed up incident in that area. its the arsehole of douglas prom. thebees
We like the moon...did you read the bit where I mentioned a real case, involving real people, where someone died and they didnt go to these lengths? no.....half read a post then come back with a pile of bollocks. The police are trained to deal with these kinds of situations, it is their job (miserable & horrid though it is). If you do not want to deal with nasty people in nasty situations, then you go and be a nursery nurse. 2 of them were there & they do not know who it was and the details of the car...ahem.... 37 year old Stavros I think you might be onto something there. Heehee last year someone I know found a nativity figure in someone they knows garden, the owner had reported it stolen and the someone I know had taken said nativity figure to the police station, the nativity figure and its owner were only re-united after I made a posting on here about my friends unusual find, so maybe you need to point out the link to the 'feds', they might not have made the link yet. The Bees ...did you read my post - or just half read it. The incident in Willaston took place inside a house. The people involved in the incident were there at the house. They had no outstanding unknown suspect. All the forensic activity would have occured at the house - ie inside where the incident took place and there were "witnesses" who had all probably sorted their story before the police even arrived. This incident took place on a road, and the police officer was carried a fair way down that road on the bonnet of a car. Therefore the scene spans that whole area and as with any other forensic investigation the whole scene needs to be examined for any forensic evidence. They had no immediate suspect in this case - they drove off. So say they do know the car reg - they have to prove the person was in that vehicle and did it. They need all the evidence they can get to get a conviction. hmm as for being trained to deal with these kind of situations - lessons in dealing with being driven at by a car being carried down the road on a bonnet, suffering serious injuries. Is that on the Police training curriculum? I don't care what you say, Police Officers are human and nothing can train you for seeing your collegue being dragged down the road, thrown to ground, lying unconsious, broken and bleeding...beleive it or not Police officers do have hearts and emotions - its not all taken away as soon as you put a uniform on. I don't want to get into an argument but the circumstances to these two incidents are completely different and non comparible.
John
I hope they catch the idiots and they are convicted for attempted Murder, I mean could they not notice the Officer on the car..? I agree with the earlier comment this is not Sun Hill. Some details of the car involved would also be helpful though.

thebees
The mentality of some people just beggars belief - you are clearly a halfwit! yeah clearly. I agree to disagree though. WLTM, yeah, I see your point, I had totally overlooked how difficult it is for the police to actually get a conviction in court thus needing every scrap of evidence.
