[BBC News] Manx falling inflation welcomed

I suppose a fall in inflation is something to be grateful for, except that in the current climate it is actually a symptom of deflation and not to be welcomed if you are to believe the economic gurus.

How much is down to price reductions caused by the underlying cost of things reducing and how much is down to price reductions because no-one is buying? In other words, is there a difference between deflation being a factor of supply (welcome) or reduced demand (unwelcome as a signal of recession)?
