Chinahand
He created many happy memories for me - Bagpuss, the Clangers - so much childhood enjoyment from a creative man's mind. All I can say is thanks for the memories!
Ariel
I was gutted to hear this, Bagpuss is one of my all time faves, but yes as a poster above says he was a lot more... an amazing soul, really loved reading his book about his life 'Seeing Things'... RIP lovely man xxx

Clicky His website is well worth exploring. RIP. Interesting stuff. Well worth exploring indeed. I used to watch Bagpuss as a child, and was chuffed to get a DVD of the series for Christmas a few years ago - it hadn't lost its magic in the intervening years. Truly a timeless classic. Snaefell050
RIP, you created what is probably some of the most iconic programmes ever, and Bagpuss was my favourite when I was younger. I got the name for my cat from Bagpuss (Emily). RIP Mr. Postgate, and thank you.
Static
How sad...but people should realise too that there was a lot more to Oliver Postgate than his children's programmes. Clicky His website is well worth exploring. RIP. Thanks for the link. A very astute man who made some memorable programmes. I've not read all his writings there yet but two stood out straight away. http://www.oliverpostgate.co.uk/archive18.html What a great idea to stop the herion trade from Afghanistan AND let the farmers keep an income. Now that's a way to win hearts and minds! And this, on the "quality" of childrens programming now on the BBC: http://www.oliverpostgate.co.uk/archive1.html RIP Oliver, you brightened my childhood.
