Does it really matter? Planning doesn't seem to exist on the Island anyway!

At least it's private money being invested in the tourism sector which brings people in!

planning exists for the man in the street, just not so obvious ( if at all ) for the rich. as to tourism?? that is what the legoland up there already was supposed to be, and they were sold off as private dwellings or rented out. i think this is a way of trying to get a casino at the mount murray and the rest is just a carrot.

As G.A, Warwickshire says on the DOTL website

"We have been visiting the Island for many years and try to visit at least twice a year. The Island cannot be equalled for coastline, beauty and natural environment anywhere in Europe."

They forgot to say it's a great place to come and lose some money (unless you are a devloper).

Does anyone know how much tax the Government gets from casino based gambling? Is it a tax on bets or a tax on profits (0%???). Certainly gambling historically has been a growth industry in hard economc times...and if people want to bet why not use this as a source of significant tax revenue?

I agree, anything that can bring some income into the Island is a bonus.

As long as its construction does not take away any more Green Space.

Bringing more money to the island is not the problem.

It is strange how so much of the island's income now comes from gambling but the religious in and out of Tynwald don't seem to care.

We should be pushing the idea of IOM Super Casinos....there must be enough gambling related talent locally to be able to drive this forward....

we already have super casinos, we call them banks. those that bet on KSF lost heavily, some people took their stakes and went elsewhere to play and others just let it ride. even the casinos are loosing too but the punters still aren't winning.
