Sebrof
I am sure I will stand corrected but, since the 1970s the corpy have lost: Port Soderick Marine Drive Summerland & Derby Castle baths Douglas Corporation transport (yellow buses) Pulrose power station all roads streets & lanes in Douglas The Villa Marina What do you mean by the last two, who owns the Villa? The Douglas streets were maintained and regulated by the corpy until they came under the control of the DOT The Villa came under government ownership before the re-build about 4 years ago So did Douglas ratepayers pay less? Or is money siphoned off to pay for these things? S I think our posting councillor could enlighten us here Will you please interpret for me? Thanks. John
All before my time, but I understand that the taking over of the Villa did save Douglas Ratepayers a small fortune.
%age
The last figue I heard was that the Villa MArina costs us all over £30,000 a week to run. I am sure I will stand corrected but, since the 1970s the corpy have lost: Port Soderick Marine Drive Summerland & Derby Castle baths Douglas Corporation transport (yellow buses) Pulrose power station all roads streets & lanes in Douglas The Villa Marina They also gave the bin depot at Lake road, which they owned, to Dandara then leased a new one from Dandara at Braddan. Yet my rates continue to rise year after year We should put an end to this expensive farce and hand over the Horse Trams to MNH, the housing stock to local government and the parks & gardens to DAFF. The Bins could be taken over by IOM Transport or sold to Magees Then perhaps we could just pay one set of rates to central government and all the ex councillors could meet every week in the Salvation Army hall down the road and bugger about at their own expense instead of ours With posts like that you should have been an MHK. John
are you asking me how many buffets 20,000 covers? Well for a start I am not an outside caterer, But i do know that is the expenses that the Mayor is paid for the position for 1 year, so how many buffet's does the position create? I don't know is my answer. If you are asking what happened to the Villa etc, again this was before my time as a Councillor and its not something I was fully aware had happened until this post (except The Villa) But with regards to the Villa I know that the drain was great on the ratepayers, the rest is just hearsay or they said he said this etc etc Any other questions? Pat Ayres
Corpy lost the villa, was the cost subsumed into the rate fund and the rates decreased consequently or was it vired to another project?
