Lonan3
She was the lady who told America's first lady, Lady Bird Johnson, at a White House luncheon, "You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed. They rebel in the streets. They will take pot and they will get high. They don't want to go to school because they're going to be snatched off from their mothers to be shot in Vietnam." A brave lady, addicted to the truth. She seems to have been around for ever. A 'one-off' who will be missed. R.I.P.

Charles Flynn
Miss Kitt appeared at the Gaiety some years ago. Those who attended enjoyed the performance which she gave. She was not one to give less of herself because it was not a full house. I often think what a shame it wasn't. As Lonan3 mentioned, yes she does seem to have been around for ever. I used to listen to her on Radio Luxenbourg many many years ago when she sang her songs and told movingly of her childhood and upbringing. In those days - before the 60's marches of Martin Luther King such accounts were a revelation. R.I.P.
