Cret
Calm down Cret, it's not like it was 100ft high or anything. I know, I'm just jolly surprised. Not exactly an every day occurrance.

Moghrey Mie
"The washing away of the 15 foot high lighthouse at the end of Port St Mary breakwater has highlighted the need for a closer look at the structure of the pier, according to director of harbours Mike Brew." They'll be 'looking at that ' then. They've been looking at the pier in Ramsey for years. Here we go again... I think Tony Brown is 'looking at' the scope and structure of government too. TerryMcCann
What a great safety fence that is. I presume falling off the side of the breakwater is perfectly safe Edit: and is that a road closed sign I see just behind the lorry
gadget
What a great safety fence that is. I presume falling off the side of the breakwater is perfectly safe Edit: and is that a road closed sign I see just behind the lorry The safety fence was put up to stop careless people tripping on the remains of the Lighthouse. And the sign was put there as a warning to those who can't take the fence as a hint to keep out!
doodlebug
Nothing to worry about - a specialist DoT team is already standing around working hard on resolving the problem: What job do you do that qualifies you to criticise DOT workers who are doing their best to replace the navigation aids in strong winds and cold conditions. I will tell you that the light was replaced in the rain and wind on Thursday morning probably while you were still snoring in your little bed. Dont smear the name of Men who are hard at work while you point your camera from the comfort of your drivers window. People like you and others on this site are just the type of little people that get their peverse jollies by looking at real men working.

Yeah right - you and who's army? - Oh yeah, the army of 800 that work for the DoT. Hard day leaning on the shovel was it? Careful, all that tea drinking and shovel leaning can lead to tennis elbow. But there again so can being a wanker.
