Yeah right - you and who's army? - Oh yeah, the army of 800 that work for the DoT.

Hard day leaning on the shovel was it? Careful, all that tea drinking and shovel leaning can lead to tennis elbow. But there again so can being a wanker.

I take it you suffer from tennis elbow then even though you're not an employee of the D.o.T.....knobjockey

Well we are all a bunch of muppets here aren't we....in banks there are greedy t***s, lazy fu***ers and bull***rs just as in government, the construction industry, retail industry and medical, etc., etc......unfortunately the DoT are easy targets as they are so visible and in the public eye therefore all the bullies of society pick on easy targets cos they don't have the ability to criticise other industries because that takes too much effort...so I say unto you who criticise you are the slackers cos your effort is pitiful......do the public a real service and find fault with the harder places....be lions not hyenas.

To be fair they did have to do a full H+S assessment, arrange the placement of a portaloo and arrange for the internet to be closed temporarily whilst the posts were made.

I'm sure in a couple of weeks time he will admit how poor the original posts were and then post something even worse

It took me two weeks cos not only did I only just find out how to switch the computer on but a portaloo had to be installed and H&S assessments conducted, but I had to go on a communications course and to get on the course I had to fill in 5 requisition forms which were initially lost so I had to rewrite the forms, tyhen a commitee was set up to decide wether I was eligible for the course which then went to Tynwald to get approval, but Tynwald then had to get written confirmation from a communications expert from the UK at a cost of which had to be no lower than £10,000, the union was then consulted to see if the course was a breach of my human rights, then I was sent notification that I would receive notification within the next two weeks that I would be rquired to attend the communication course in the UK...lmao....and yes I am a DoT worker

Nothing to worry about - a specialist DoT team is already standing around working hard on resolving the problem:

What job do you do that qualifies you to criticise DOT workers who are doing their best to replace the navigation aids in strong winds and cold conditions.

I will tell you that the light was replaced in the rain and wind on Thursday morning probably while you were still snoring in your little bed.

Dont smear the name of Men who are hard at work while you point your camera from the comfort of your drivers window.

People like you and others on this site are just the type of little people that get their peverse jollies by looking at real men working.

just to add a bit more to this

ha ha ha ha u make me laugh, now while Amadeus may not be in "a job that qualifies him to criticise the dot" but im sure he is after rushing back to take a pic of this amazing thing that must have happined if 5 men are watching only to find out there watching one man work in a hole!!!

but i am, not all of them are like this, but god dam there is some lazy gits working in the DOT,

the most funnest thing thay used to do is, come into the workshop can u fix my shovel i broke it, Like what the fu*k, go and get a new one.

no no thay cant do that, because that would mean thay would have to be back at work stright away, so thay turn up at oooo say 930ish, u see thay got to the job, had tea and then maybe looked out the window o shit its raining, how i get out of this, i know!!!!!!! i snap the handle of the shovel or bend it,

but u dont have just one of them there, o now u have the whole wagon full of ppl, standing around doing nowt, trust me when i tell you these ppl can make this last the whole day, and used to happin a lot, but only when its raining, never when its sunny, funny that

Also The can u put some edge of the spade, thay used to be able to kill 4 hours with this one, H&S stopped us doing this in the end,

and there just 2 exsamples i could post loads more, but think the damage is done :D

get back on your spade, thats if u aint broke it yet, but it has given rain 2mro so heres hopeing

I am a DOT worker and in all probability so is Doodle bug.

We do our best for the people of the I sland so cut us some slack and just let us get our work done.

The constant barrage of insults from the general public does not do anything to help us, we are after all just trying to do a job like the rest of you.

Count me in on that also, but we have to remember most of those who criticise havn't a clue how to use a road let alone how one is made.

Just thought I'd point out it's actually a pier - not a road.

Back from one-hour to half-hour lunch breaks for you guys - to avoid the need for complete retraining.

Oh folks, please... I said before that I don't think all DoT workers are slackers, but - like with any job or industry - some sure are. Took'em three weeks to sort out the afore mentioned drain down here - three bloody weeks! If you trying to do an easy one, then maybe one of the main roads into douglas isn't the best place for that - people will notice and hence your reputation.

BTW: Feel free to insult me as lazy office worker or something - fine with me.

Still don't understand why the the DoT employs over 700+ people, though. Mad number for such a small island.

You have to remember D.O.T. is not just roads it is also footpaths, drainage, the govt's electrical and mechanical contractor, divers, parts of airport, ports etc, just the same as banks are not full of high paid tossers with big bonus payouts whilst ripping customers off.

You could say the same for anywhere, have you ever waited for a passport or a tax rebate, waiting is part of life Brother.

Even the private sector is a waiting game, I've waited for nearly a month for a heating engineer to come and put a new heat exchanger on the boiler!!
