Amadeus
Something's seriously messed up there - the place is a dump and as inviting as Chatsworth Estate on a Friday evening...

Saltire
Didnt realise there were so many vacant shops, cant say i am suprised though I'm sure it's a scene familiar to many town centres around Britain at the moment.
The Godfather of Manx House
And it's precisely different from how many small similar sized towns ? Wake up ffs. It's a global recession. There'll be plenty more empty soon too ... ...GOMH*...

TerryMcCann
Its part of a Douglas Corporation conspiracy to turn Douglas into the new Ramsey. You could be right. I did see that a new charity shop had opened in Victoria Street. Either that or they will all be coffee shops before the week is out
Minxie
I have also heard rumours about two other well known clothing stores, a department store and a shoe shop, all planning on leaving Strand Street as well. Obviously they may not be true so haven't named them, but if it is true then it's going to be a bit bleak in Strand Street. I think it's a terrible shame, and feel very sorry for people who have lost their jobs.
immortalpuppet
Are there people shopping in town nowadays or is it just the young mums and unemployed walking up and down all day?
La_Dolce_Vita
The second photo down on the left hand side, was that Leeds Building Society? And what was Mr Kelly's?
Minxie
And what was Mr Kelly's? Wasn't that the Manx rock shop that sold sticks of rock and other sweets?
