These sods sit on the hill which is made up of soil and grass.
shamus
The event will go ahead as it always does and most of the public will be at the stalls behind the grandstand ignoring the bullxxxx enacted on the hill. And as usual the Manx Government will sing the English national anthem more times than the Manx one and the invited guests at our expense will be from countries in violation of UN treaties. EG. Norway is always invited because it is a viking nation. Norway is violating the UN charter on killing whales and basking sharks which local shark expert, Ken Watterson is so frustrated about. Ken cannot get Manx Government backing for his studies even though they are famous throughout the world. After the do on the hill they will all attend a lavish ball at the Golf Links hotel of which the expense is always hidden from us peasants. And the police will provide a free taxi service home for the members of Tynwald too smashed to drive home. The whole event is a total fiasco and all you suckers that read this are paying for it. Your post smacks of cronyism and we (some of us) the paying public, should be told the truth! nipper
The great day approaches and I advise the people of the Isle of Man to do anything but go to St. Johns. Why watch a ceremony that is just really an "on tour" version of the usual crap that goes on regularly in the court of tynwald. non-trustworthy members passing ludicrous bills and acts that don't represent the peoples views of the Isle of Man whatsoever.Go on a day trip, go to the pub get p*ssed, have a barbeque or justr stay in bed. Don't rise to the occasion unless you are interested in the fayre happening behind this ceremony. The Fayre is more important to most people than the Government mumbo jumbo going on in front, and of what importance is a fayre. Exactly. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The great day is here!!! I was going to go out last night diso-dancing all night so that I could have a long lie today, but I didn't so no sore head. I switched on the radio and it was just oozing with ego from the Tynwald Hill!!! It soon got switched off. But it is nice for new people to the Island to see and have a giggle. Most people I know go along once when they are about 10 and then never ago. It usually is a good pub day, so me, I'm off there right now!!! Lonan3
If only they passed comical ludicrous bills that made no sense in a funny way. That would probably be ok. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But that's exactly what they do! I've been to the event several times and can happily confirm that the only ones who are really interested in it are those who take part. It is purely a ceremony - a nice spectacle if you haven't seen it before - but bloody boring if you have. It has as much relevance to politics as Julie Andrews has to the porn industry! (Thinks: Oh God... I hope I haven't set Stavros off with that comment!)
