Some interesting points have come out of a question suggesting the Department of Tourism and Leisure being amalgamated with the Department of Trade and Industry.

A question about an alleged "cover up" with the Chief Executive of Leisure, has been refused.

Sounded more like a fob off to me...and £250K PA would still be used to promote jobs for the boys. Optimum time for amalgamation of the DTL with the DTI and saving money is now - but they seem happy to miss the opportunity.

Phil Braidwood MHK (Douglas East) seems to be struggling to appease some regarding his role in answering questions on behalf of the Finance Minister (Allan Bell) who is away in London with the Chief Minister today.

Martyn Quayle MHK (Middle) answered questions on behalf of the Chief Minister in his absence.

Not hard to disseminate information to MHKs about what's going on is it? - Braidwood sounded very obstructive.

Pretty shoddy stuff from, for, and on behalf of the treasury.

Ouch! Runway extension costs up £2.2 million because of contracts covering Euro/Sterling differences (£13.1 million v £10.8 million). All Euro's now apparently purchased by treasury. Reassurances were supposedly given previously that money would be hedged previously to avoid this - oops.

Still harping on it's all for CAA recommendations. PK getting fobbed off again after saying we could have saved £30 million whilst still providing the same services.

WTF is going on, why do Manx companies have to stick to submitted tenders while others can have these clause built in. The Airport tender states that the contractor must abide by his prices submitted for a specified period of time.

Agree Tourism and Leisure could be treated as another 'industry'

Especially as Martyn Quayle said the chief executive doesn't have to be an expert in tourism.

Seems to me the tourism 'industry' is small enough to get all the stakeholders together annually and thrash out what they are trying to do.

The Hon Member for Kirk Michael sounds like an early gramophone recording, I noticed. With maybe a hint of Lord Haw Haw.

That isn't meant to be cruel btw. I'm sure he is good.

John Shimmin speaks well IMO. Some of the others seem to get ridiculously tongue twisted.

Did he mention stamps going up to 31p as well?
