cheeky boy Posted March 9, 2009 Share Posted March 9, 2009 G 20 meets next month, shutting down " shadow banking systems" and "closing tax havens" is on the cards according to Gordon Brown in his address to congress last week So what if it all goes tits up for us and the finance sector winds down, what could do to make a living ? I grew up in a small hotel when tourism played a major role in the Manx economy and I can see potential for small scale specialist holiday breaks here, but that will only ever be a small part of the economy Anyone else got any bright ideas ? Put Deverau's in charge of our Navy, Amadeus Jeremy Clarkson in charge of our Air force/ground troops (consisting of Farmers with RPGs). Buy a nuke on the black market, install it in Snaefell. Legalize Prostitution and drugs, ban Health and Safety, buy IOMPSC and turn it into 'High tides Ltd' Stand on Douglas Head in the duff and yell "COME AND HAVE A GO YOU FUCKERS!!!" There is so much to be said for living here, and it would pain me immensely to have to leave again, but that is a possibility if I allow the pessimistic side to win. I would hope to see more positive action from our elected policitians; a more robust defence of our position coupled with more plans b, c and d. Perhaps I am feeling pretty gloomy at the moment, but we do have so very much to offer, yet seem incapable of banging that drum effectively.
