Albert Tatlock
The Let 400 is a good aircraft and well maintained by some very experienced Czech engineers, it has had an unfortunate few tyre problems for reasons which are not clear, there is nothing wrong with the type per-se. 'Flaps - Czech, Propeller - Czech, Undercarriage - Czech, Fares - cheque - how much?'
spanna
Dont think you were actually asking for a price but I went and looked anyway 1984 Manufactured 410-UVP aircraft for sale. 4,685 hours since new. Fairly fresh from o/haul. Asking price $225,000 USD. o.n.o. just for comparison a 2nd hand Shorts 360! (remember those old boxs with wings manx airlines had in the 80s) would set you back $1.5 million!!!!

monasqueen
Shorts 360! (remember those old boxs with wings manx airlines had in the 80s) Oooh yes When they weren't full, you could watch them loading sandbags into the belly to get the weight right Like biscuit barrels, they were! ballaughbiker
Box with wings? Biscuit barrel? You'll be calling it a Shed next. Its a proper aircraft with a 3.5+ tonne payload. You won't get that in a Let. Someone I know flew a 360 from Canada to the UK and the same aircraft did a few sectors from the IOM when it used to do the Dublin route (over 10 years ago). As for sandbags I think that was the ATP that needed those when nearly empty. Don't remember the 360 being similarly afflicted.
spanna
Exactly, its a proper aircraft thats why it costs at least 1 million dollars. Unlike a let which costs not much more than a car.

More to do with the fall of communism and market perceptions than the suitability of the aircraft for purpose.

Confirmed
Another 'problem' with Manx2 today: Mar 25 2009 by Kevin Hughes, Flintshire Chronicle EMERGENCY crews were put on standby today (Wednesday) after warning lights came on a plane carrying 21 patients. The pilot of the Manx2 airline flight alerted Hawarden airport there were problems and firecrews were scrambled as a precaution. The LET 410 plane landed safely at about 8am and nobody was injured in the incident. It was carrying Isle of Man patients for transfer to hospitals in the North West as part of a scheme with the islands department of health. The scheme recently started in January. An Airbus spokesman said the problem was rectified afterwards. “As a precautionary measure, emergency services attended the landing of a passenger aircraft at Hawarden Airport on Tuesday, March 25, in response to a message from the pilot that a warning indicator had illuminated in the cockpit,” he said. “The aircraft, a LET 410, operated by Manx2, was transporting 21 passengers on a hospital transfer flight from the Isle of Manx to Broughton on a hospital transfer flight. “The aircraft landed safely, and passengers disembarked the aircraft as normal via the steps. The cause was identified and immediately rectified.” A North Wales Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “We were alerted the pilot had reported a problem. Firecrews were put on standby. But the plane landed safely.”

That would cause major problems, I lived there once and I can't remember Hawarden Avenue having an airport.
asitis
Now that Flybe are taking on routes which Manx 2 were making a success of, Manx 2 may have a problem, we may be headed for 1 airline just like the steam racket !

Remember the Aer Lingus one that came down in a field near Birmingham, and no major injuries. Can't see that happening with the Budvar can. Didn't the Shorts aircraft have components made here?
