bishbashbosh
If in say 2 years , there has been no movement or the project is shelved for no good reason, then I will join you in criticism. But until then I am living in hope that i don't have too, does it hurt to be positive about something for a change? correct john it does no harm to live in hope. exactly what the sefton groups PR machine has set out to achieve whilst doing nothing except biuld its land bank. If Sefton do have a PR machine - it's not very good given that everyone seems to be excited, but rolling their eyes when they hear Sefton Group are behind it! The again, what PR agency can get round the lack of inaction and spin this any other way?
Lee54
Judge people on what they do, not what they say. What have the Sefton group done? Closed the Castle Mona down, the Golf Links down and may be closing down the Hilton

Lee54
Rumour has it that the Sefton Group have or may be pulling out of the Summerland site due to contamination of the ground and the Government's refusal to sort the unstable rock face out. Closed the Castle Mona down, the Golf Links down and may be closing down the Hilton I think you'll find it closed before they bought it. The Hilton has just applied for a new casino license. The golf links was bought in that state. Please correct me if I'm incorrect in any of the above, I wouldn't like to mislead. Yes. That and the fact that this was yet another Sefton Group fantasy project from start to finish.

Lagman
Rumour has it that the Sefton Group have or may be pulling out of the Summerland site due to contamination of the ground and the Government's refusal to sort the unstable rock face out. [/quote Weren`t the Sefton group the chosen group out of several interested parties? - I would have liked to see what the other groups had in mind, I still think that the complex should include a mini theme park/funfair like the ones in shopping complexes in England. - I think it would be sustainable - all weather, all year use, less chance of vadalism being enclosed.Plus it would negate the need to bring the Fun Fair over anymore. I think multi use being the optimum thing here - pile as much stuff as possible in there(maybe add another floor) - multiplex, bowling alley, 5 a side football, arcade/classic arcade games, nightclubs, resteraunt, venue for bands etc. - if the mix is anywhere near right and it isn`t complete rip off prices people will use it over and over again.People are desperate for entertainment, how many turned up just to go round the old prison for example. Didn`t the Sefton group say at the time the Wave was announced that if planning applications became a problem they would think about using one of their many other sites as an alternate? Anyway, if the Sefton group doesn`t seem to be making a commitment soon, maybe some of the other interested parties should be contacted to see wether they are still interested. Anyone know what happened with the guy that was trying to turn a disused warehouse into an leisure centre/bowling alley? Maybe this would be the way to go if the Wave doesn`t happen, smaller leisure facilities in reused buildings/warehouses dispursed throughout the island might stand a better chance of being financially viable.Didn`t the guy who runs the Traf want to make a classic arcade somewhere? Gilligan
I think that at the site of the old summer land place, there should be a three-way roundabout...up the hill, down the hill and the bridge out to England. Oh yes... They should build a bridge from Douglas prom all the way to where ever in England would be the best (cost versus best place for accesibility). Then the Steam Packet can eat shit and die because no one would use their service anymore. The Island, in the long run, would reduce its carbon foot print, because less aeroplanes need to fly, and maybe they could even stick a rail station on the top of the road to foot passengers can travel as well. It would run off solar and wind, and if the weather isnt that good, then there would be a carriage with treadmills and rowing machines, and cycle machines so people can workout, and generate electricity at the same time. Those passengers that do this get free travel. Also, they can hold running or walking races on it. Could be a new challenge..."Trans-Irish sea dash", could bring more money into the Island. Hmmn, surely thare must be some sneaky legal way to side step the Twatpacket - alternate berth(Ramsey Pier?) using historical ships maybe (how about big replica Viking boats with enormous sails), ruffing it on the larger style fishing boats (get local fishermen to operate them as sea taxis for extra cash), how about buying a dicomissioned Russian military submarine - would be a decent tourist attraction in itself - travelling under the Irish sea - guess travelling in bad weather wouldn`t be a problem anymore. Excellent idea. Hopefully one with nukes then we could piss off the Americans on so many levels. Everytime they call us a tax haven, we can 'test fire' one. Obamas face would be such a picture. It's just not cricket, old chap.
