Frances
The Island actually has an energy storage system - it's known as the UK via the cable - solar is I think a waste of money for Island based electricity generation (tho it could have a role in domestic heating) - the two sources to tap are the tidal flows & the wind - neither can provide power on a 100% duty cycle but by selling the peak to UK and importing some + turning on the pulrose station we should be able to reduce need for non-renewables a fair amount - the long term future is a second link and to tie in with the UK nuclear (their only real option - delayed for too many years by tree huggers)
triskelion
If I'm not mistaken the idea was certainly put forward for Sulby reservoir to have a more useful amount of generating capacity, but instead they fudged it with an 'experimental' station.
