homarus
Did anybody else read Councillor Christians explanation(Manx radio ) as to why the Corporation have fenced off a large area of the Groves road playing fields due to the large amount of broken glass and slate making its way to the surface! Apparently pile driving work that was carried out in regards to the recently re-built lower Pulrose housing estate (the part which backs on to the playing fields) may have hit an underground stream and diverted its course to the middle of the playing fields ,resulting in the water flow pushing up glass and other debris to the surface! I would have thought that the debris on the surface was more to do with the fact that the Corporation employed unqualified monkeys (their own staff) to lay the so called new playing field who then proceeded to totally f**k it up re-seeding over the top of glass large pieces of manx slate and other bits of debris even though it was clearly visible to the naked eye! Since being relaid , the new playing field has never been fit for the purpose for which it was intended !Which is a shame when you consider that the Corporation paid a local firm in the region of£40,000 for supposedly top quality soil for the site.,add onto that the wages for the Corporation men who worked on it also the cost of the new fencing to keep people out , and you are looking at quite a substantial amount of ratepayers money that looks like it has been wasted yet again
