Mr Shoe
hurrah http://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/Number-of-u...alls.5168547.jp but just to be a pessimist.... http://www.gov.im/treasury/economic/data/unemployment.xml read the pdf - unemployment dropped by 33. however, 22 of those were people requiring work permits and 18 were claiming credits only. quite an impressive swing in those two groups, wouldn't you agree (around 40%)? did unemployment come down, or did the dhss tighten the rules in order to make unemployment LOOK like it came down. the numbers of genuine people becoming unemployed actually went up slightly. manxman8180
does needing a work permit make you not genuinely unemployed? They might have been here 4 years, have a couple of kids, house with a mortgage etc..... I bet they feel 'genuinely' unemployed.
Mr Shoe
does needing a work permit make you not genuinely unemployed? you missed my point. "genuine" was a bad choice of word. don't you find it odd that the apparent "drop" in unemployment is made up almost entirely out of that group? are you telling me half the work-permit-seeking unemployed just decided not to bother claiming any more? Slim
Looks like the usual seasonal adjustment. The year on year figure is still almost double. I think it's positive in that the numbers didn't get worse.
